The Strathcona County Lifestyle

Are you thinking about relocating to Strathcona County? It’s important to think about the different type of lifestyle that comes with a new town, and whether it’s a fit for you.

The good news is that Strathcona County, where I live and work, has got plenty to offer to everyone, no matter your lifestyle!

For the athlete:

The golfers among us are spoiled, with Broadmoor Golf Course in Sherwood Park and Legends Golf and Country Club just north of it. If you’d rather toss a disc than swing a club, there are disc golf courses in parks all around the county. On top of that, you can keep active all year at Millenium Place.

For the nature lover:

The Strathcona County Regional Trail runs along our beautiful section of the river valley, and it's perfect for some nature time close to home. If you’d rather get out of town for a day, check out the Beaver Hills Biosphere or Elk Island National Park. They’re both full of excellent hiking trails.

For the foodie:

If you’re a fan of locally-brewed craft beer, 70 Acre Brew Co. is serving up brews right in the heart of Sherwood Park, and their patio is opening for spring! And there’s no need to head into the city for fine dining: Vicky’s Bistro, La Patrona, and Bodega are local favourites. Finish off with an espresso at the renowned Roasti, where they roast their own beans, and dessert at JACEK, a chocolatier famous across the country that was started right here in the County.

For the urbanite:

Get the urban experience at home, with no shortage of museums and local theatrical and musical events. Shopping options are world class, with no fewer than eight different shopping areas and plenty of great local businesses.
